Throughout the netball season, talent identification takes place across the Mainland region. We are fortunate to have an experienced and committed identification panel that attends key events, including representative tournaments, the South Island Secondary Schools Championships, and club and school games.
We are thrilled to have completed our talent identification process for Year 11 and Year 12 athletes. From this process, 52 promising players have been selected to attend the Mainland Netball Development Camp.
Year 11/12 Development Camp
Date: Saturday 19 September 2026
Venue: Christchurch Netball Sports Centre, Christchurch
This camp will include fitness, skill development, workshops and match play. It will give athletes the opportunity to:
- Receive coaching from highly experienced coaches
- Learn more about the next stage of the performance pathway
- Connect with other talented players from across the Mainland Zone
- Test themselves against some of the Zone’s leading young athletes

Athletes will also be considered for selection to attend the prestigious Netball New Zealand National Development Camp (NDC), which is expected to be held in Ashburton from 14 - 16 January 2027.
From this group, 15 athletes and five reserves will be selected for the opportunity to continue their development within the national performance pathway.
Year 13 Development Opportunity
This year, we have also selected a talented group of Year 13 athletes to attend a specialist workshop with Marianne Delaney-Hoshek, followed by a match against our Mainland Emerging Talent Squad (METS).
This opportunity is designed to advance the athletes’ skills and provide insight into the next stage of their pathway, should they choose to continue their netball journey within Mainland.
